Recruiter Jobs
Automotive recruiters find, screen and hire people for dealerships, dealer groups and automotive companies.
An automotive recruiter fills dealership and automotive jobs: sourcing candidates, screening them, scheduling interviews and keeping hiring managers and applicants informed. You can work inside a dealer group or for an agency. The job rewards people who understand the roles they fill, from technicians to F&I managers.

A day as a Recruiter
You start with the open jobs and who is waiting on whom. A service manager needs a technician, a sales manager lost two salespeople and the group has an opening for a controller. You check new applicants, read profiles, make calls and reply to the ones you want to move. Then you write or update the job posts, because a vague post draws the wrong people.
Screening is the real skill. A technician who says they are a master tech needs different questions from a salesperson with a strong month. You ask about pay plan experience, brands, tools and why they are leaving. You schedule interviews, brief the hiring manager and chase feedback, since good candidates take other offers while the manager is busy.
The role suits people who enjoy phone calls, keep careful notes and can deliver bad news kindly. It does not suit someone who dislikes being the middleman between a candidate and a manager who both want answers today.
How to get in
Start in HR or Staffing
HR coordinators, staffing agency recruiters and talent acquisition assistants have the process skills. Learn the automotive roles, their pay structures and the vocabulary before you interview with a dealer group.
Move Over from Inside a Store
Service managers, sales managers and office staff who have hired and trained people know what a good candidate looks like. Tell your HR lead you want to help with recruiting, and take on interviews or job posts.

Agencies fill dealer roles for clients and train new recruiters. The work is intense, and the pay often depends on placements, so ask how the firm supports new hires.

BLS occupation: "Human Resources Specialists" (13-1071), all industries. BLS reports this occupation as "Human Resources Specialists" across every industry. Recruiters are included in this group alongside other HR specialists, so the figures are broader than automotive recruiting.
Recruiters inside a dealer group are usually salaried, sometimes with a bonus tied to roles filled or time to fill. Agency recruiters often earn commission or a split on placements, with or without a base. Ask which applies, when commission is earned and whether a placement that leaves early is clawed back.
The closest BLS match is shown on this page with its wages. The category covers recruiters in every industry, so it is a reference, not an automotive benchmark.
Ask how many open jobs you will carry, what tools you get, who owns the relationship with hiring managers and how you reach technicians and sales staff. A recruiter with no authority over job posts or follow-up is chasing results without control.
Build your AutoHire profile
- Write a headline that names the hiring you did, such as Automotive Recruiter, technician, sales and management hiring.
- In work history duties, name the roles you filled, the brands and the way you sourced. Employers can search by title and keyword.
- Add brand experience if you recruited for specific franchises, with years.
- List HR courses or credentials under certifications and education. There is no ASE test for recruiters.
- Because recruiters know how profiles get read, make yours complete: a clear bio, duties in each job and an open-to-work flag when you are looking.
- Apply from the job page, reply to a Spark or message quickly, and finish ID verification for the Verified badge.
